Agricultural

The TRANSFORMA-INNOVA program has set itself the goal of implementing low-carbon, biodiversity-conserving and climate-resilient agricultural production practices in the coffee, livestock and Musaceae sectors, in close coordination with the respective public and private sector actors.

In all three sectors, the purpose is to strengthen governance and knowledge management mechanisms, promoting good agricultural practices with low carbon emissions, which conserve biodiversity and are resilient.

Moreover, support will be given to the development of differentiated low-carbon products in the markets, innovative and adequate financing for the crop and the updating of the monitoring system in each sector.

How are we going to do it?

  • The coffee NAMA expands to an additional 3,750 coffee farmers, including smallholder farmers, youth and women, and 56 coffee processing plants.

  • The livestock NAMA is implemented in an additional 1,569 ha, including 150 additional farmers and producers (milk, meat and dual purpose), applying low emission GAP/GMP and conserving biodiversity.

  • A Musaceae NAMA is established on 5,600 ha of 50 pilot farms.

  • 3 low-carbon, biodiversity-friendly and deforestation-free products, one related to each of the NAMAs (coffee, cattle or Musaceae), positioned in national and international markets.

  • 3 standards or norms have been amended to include new or revised criteria for low-carbon, biodiversity-friendly and deforestation-free production related to coffee, beef, dairy and Musaceae value chains.
